I have been anemic my entire life, but as the years have gone by this has become worse. My body does not absorb the vitamins and minerals from my food any longer, and to make things more complicated many foods I am not able to eat.

I even tried going back to college, but my lack of energy forced me to give up that dream. You will be extremely low on energy without enough B12, and there are people with this problem that their physician does not understand. Gluten is extremely hard on your intestines, and the worse part is it does silent damage.

Amazingly, I am not low on this according to my blood work. Here is what the Mayo Clinic says about being high risk, and if this sounds familiar consult your physician to be tested.

If any of these fits you, I would check with my doctor. You can find out simply with blood tests, so it is not really a big deal to be tested. When you have a chronic deficiency like myself, you are a high risk for certain medical conditions.

According to the Mayo Clinic, a healthy diet is your best prevention. Many people today are on restricted diets, so many children experience food allergies. Our food is not providing the nutrients as in the past, but one reason is we consume way too many processed foods.

  • Vitamin B12
  • Vitamin D
  • Folate
  • Multivitamin
  • Stop smoking and don’t start
  • Drink alcohol in moderation

That concludes the Mayo Clinic’s article, so does it really sound to you this is going to work? I always ate healthy my entire life, but many of the foods that are healthy are bad for me. I also can’t digest dairy products of any kind, so I have to take calcium for my loss of bone density.
